Yahoo! introduces texting via their popular mail service.

A simulation of what Yahoo!’s new texting service might be like.

So as bebo are introducing their new AIM service, Yahoo is now integrating their latest feature, in-house text messaging, that is presumably for free, albeit rumors around the gadetnet are giving in to the possible fact that the recipient may be charged for the “free” sms. See you after the break.

Moco News Reports that it will work in the US, Canada, India and the Philippines in real-time, although depending on the network in some countries. Probably the best feature, is that when in the middle of a conversation via Yahoo IM, you can immediately convert to SMS if you’re friend suddenly had to go “mobile”. But like everything that might make you feel a tad better, there’s a doubt about whether it will be completely free or if somebody will be making a small fortune out of a couple of texts. - Ed
